Sustainable Workstation Solution
SITUATION:
A major international architect and design firm was looking for a sustainable work environment for their offices. They wanted to use products that had custom dimensions and finishes. They specifically had a brown Microdot laminate in mind for lower casegoods units and a glossy white on the upper cabinet to use as a marker board. The firm was considering using Herman Miller for the project, but were apprehensive because they could not meet their custom requirements.
SOLUTION:
The STUdio design team from StelterPartners pulled together a custom solution for the client using the design of the Content Furniture line as the foundation. The furniture uses sustainable Skyblend cores that contained waterbased glues with ABS worksurface edges to lower the formaldehyde emissions. The laminates for both surfaces and
storage units were all Greenguard Certified.
Optional modesty panels were constructed of natural birch ply for environmentally friendly tackable Forbo on the users side. Aluminum standoffs were used to give the worksurface a light floating feeling,
completing the overall design of the station.
RESULT:
The client couldn't be happier with the way
everything turned out. The product looks like they were always part of the stations and comments from the employees have been very positive.
