Storage Towers
Project: Defining Space with Metal Storage
Client: Big Ten University
A big ten college approached NBS with a storage problem. They wanted a custom metal storage tower, but couldn’t find one that would work will with the 30" deep study tables they had in their engineering department. They specifically wanted a tower that included a locker with a shelf, and a box box file below it. They also wanted it to match the color of existing files in the room. NBS called SpaceWorks to see if they could help.
SpaceWorks knew that they had the answer with their SteelBlockss line. SpaceWorks designers made 3D renderings of the tower for the university to approve, and explained their color matching capability. The school was thrilled to see their idea in front of them, exactly as they had imagined. One small item concerned the school. Would students be able to reach the back of the locker with a full shelf? They asked SpaceWorks engineers put the school’s mind at ease by building a cardboard mockup of the tower and sent photos of various “students” reaching in.
The college was much more confident in their original dimensions and chose SteelBlocks for the towers. They were even more pleased to discover that SpaceWorks was able to beat their target price! The towers were shipped in installments by the school’s request. The end result was a happy manufacturer, a happy dealer, and a very satisfied customer.
